From November 12–14, 2025, YUTOECO participated in the Sustainable Packaging Summit 2025 held in Utrecht, the Netherlands, organized by Packaging Europe, a leading media platform in the packaging industry. The event brought together global experts to discuss packaging innovations addressing environmental challenges and the future of sustainable packaging.
Main Stage: Diversifying Fibre Sources
At the summit, Jerome, R&D expert from YUTOECO, joined other speakers to exchange insights and breakthroughs on the topic “Diversifying Fibre Sources.” The discussion centered on three key areas:
- Analyzing the precarious of wood-based fibers in packaging (including environmental impacts of logging, supply shortages caused by wildfires, and rising costs from PPWR/EUDR regulations).
- Explore how alternative fibers can build supply chain resilience, as well as existing challenges and technological breakthroughs.
- Discussing the scaling up for alternative raw materials and fostering collaboration across the global value chain.
During the discussion, Jerome mentioned, “In truth, environmentalism is never a binary choice between black and white, but rather a continuous ladder of improvement. Traditional paper packages hold environmental advantages over disposable plastic ones, while paper packages made from alternative fibres represent an even more sustainable choice.”
Innovative Fiber Technology Drives Sustainability
At YUTOECO’s booth, a range of cutting-edge sustainable packaging technologies and cross-industry solutions were showcased, including:
- FluoZero® — a plant-based, PFAS-free oil-resistant technology
- Extruliber™ — an advanced dry fiber molding process
- Plant-based cushioning materials and Algae inks
These innovations highlight YUTOECO’s strong R&D capabilities and our firm commitment to driving the future of sustainable packaging. In addition to innovation in plant fiber products, we continue to advance in the field of printing inks, consistently developing and launching more eco-friendly solutions — such as algae-based inks.
Leading the Way of Packaging Sustainability
Beyond showcasing solutions, YUTOECO continues to explore new eco-friendly raw materials. In addition to widely used fibers such as bagasse and bamboo, we are actively researching alternative renewable fibers like giant fungus grass and bamboo shoot shell, efficiently utilizing natural resources. What's more, YUTOECO is also continuously optimizing our production processes to enhance sustainability and minimize environmental impact throughout the packaging lifecycle.
Through its participation in the Sustainable Packaging Summit, YUTOECO not only joined global partners in exploring fiber diversification strategies but also demonstrated our progress in sustainable innovation. Looking ahead, YUTOECO will continue advancing eco-friendly material R&D and manufacturing upgrades, working with partners across the value chain to build more resilient, sustainable packaging solutions — powering the high-quality growth of the global sustainable packaging industry.
